Your Audio Never Leaves Your Device

OIKLA processes all audio locally on your device using WebAssembly (WASM) technology. No audio data is captured, transmitted, stored, or analyzed on any server. The entire DSP pipeline — from spectral analysis to convolution — runs in your browser or DAW. We have no access to your audio. Period.

1. Information We Collect

Information we do NOT collect

  • Audio data or audio streams of any kind
  • Microphone input or system audio capture content
  • Audio processing parameters or settings (volume levels, frequency corrections)
  • Recordings, mixes, or any creative content

Information we may collect

  • Website analytics: Anonymous page view data (pages visited, approximate geographic region, browser type) collected through privacy-respecting analytics. No personal identifiers are tracked.
  • Purchase information: If you purchase the SHAPE plugin, your name, email address, and payment details are processed by our third-party payment provider. We store your email and license key for order fulfillment and support purposes only.
  • Support correspondence: If you contact us via email, we retain the correspondence to provide support and improve our services.
  • Calibration preferences: If you use the calibration feature, your selected audio interface and headphone model are stored locally in your browser (localStorage). This data never leaves your device.

2. How We Use Information

The limited information we collect is used exclusively to:

  • Fulfill plugin purchases and deliver license keys
  • Provide technical support when requested
  • Understand aggregate usage patterns to improve the Services (via anonymous analytics)
  • Comply with legal obligations (e.g., tax reporting for purchases)

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Local Processing Architecture

The OIKLA Perception web application uses the following browser technologies, all of which operate entirely on your device:

  • WebAssembly (WASM): The DSP engine is compiled to WASM and runs in an AudioWorklet on your device. No server communication occurs during audio processing.
  • Web Audio API: Audio routing uses the browser's built-in Web Audio API. Audio streams are never sent to external endpoints.
  • SharedArrayBuffer: Used for efficient communication between the UI thread and audio thread within your browser. Data remains in local memory.
  • localStorage: User preferences (calibration settings, UI state) are stored in your browser's local storage. This data is not accessible to us or any third party.

4. Cookies

The OIKLA website may use the following types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies: Required for the website to function (e.g., session management). These cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies: Used for anonymous, aggregate usage statistics. These can be disabled in your browser settings without affecting functionality.

We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or fingerprinting techniques.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Payment processing: For SHAPE plugin purchases. Payment providers handle card details directly; we do not store full payment card information.
  • Content delivery: Static website assets may be served via a CDN for performance. No personal data is shared with CDN providers.
  • YouTube: Embedded video content is loaded from YouTube. YouTube's privacy policy applies when interacting with embedded videos.

6. Data Retention

Purchase records and associated email addresses are retained for as long as necessary to provide license management and support, and as required by applicable tax and accounting regulations.

Support correspondence is retained for up to three (3) years after the last communication.

Anonymous analytics data is retained in aggregate form and cannot be linked to individual users.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or other jurisdiction with similar data protection laws, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Right to portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
  • Right to object: Object to processing of your personal data for certain purposes.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@oikla.com. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Children's Privacy

The Services are not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

9. Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal data we hold. The most effective security measure we employ is architectural: by processing all audio locally and collecting minimal data, we minimize the potential impact of any security incident.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. For material changes, we will provide notice via the website or email (if you are a SHAPE customer).
